About PYMBL

So,… how did we come up the  idea of putting on a kids race series?

Well, to be perfectly honest, ‘we’ didn’t!

The idea behind the Greensboro Fat Tire Society's PYMBL series owes everything to the great experience our family had taking part in the Carolina Youth Mountain Bike League (CYMBL) series that was put together by  Todd Branham, Marisa Pharr, Ben Williams, and Heather Wright in 2011 and held in Western North Carolina.

After the first race at Falling Creek, I knew that this was something I wanted to bring to the Triad area and I discussed with Ben what CYMBL’s plan for the future was. Initially, we talked about trying to bring one of the races to Greensboro as part of the series, but by the series finale, Todd and the others had decided that for the time being, the CYMBL series would be held in the Fall and had no immediate plans to expand eastward.

I asked Ben at the last race what his thoughts were on the Greensboro Fat Tire Society putting on our own series in the Spring and he said,”go for it!”

So we’re going for it!

It’s no accident that the PYMBL series is so similar in format to the CYMBL series. They did an awesome job putting on races that were not only kid friendly, but family friendly as well. With the PYMBL spring series, we strive to duplicate that experience and compliment  their series by providing additional opportunities for youth racing in the Piedmont.

Behind this effort is the Greensboro Fat Tire Society, our local IMBA/SORBA affiliated club. All of the proceeds from this race series will go towards helping the GFTS maintain our local trails (and build new ones), as well as provide funding for our Take A Kid Mountain Biking program.

Thanks for taking a look – hope to see you at the races!
